Mortgage Lawyer – 7-10 years PQE – Mumbai

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Lawyer to join a leading global financial services group operating in India. The successful candidate will work closely with business, credit, and risk teams to ensure the legal soundness of mortgage transactions and collateral arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve title search reports and property due‑diligence assessments.
• Evaluate the legal enforceability of collateral and identify associated risks.
• Draft, review, and standardise mortgage and security documentation.
• Collaborate with external counsel to support business, credit, and risk functions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the Transfer of Property Act, Land Laws, Stamp Act, Registration Act, and RBI regulations applicable to NBFCs.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent law degree.
• 7‑10 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in mortgage legal work within the BFSI sector.
• Current residence in Mumbai or willingness to relocate.
• Experience in NBFCs, banks, HFCs, or mortgage/LAP businesses is preferred.
• Proven track record of high performance with strong communication and negotiation abilities.
