Legal Officer – Kolkata

About the role

The Legal Officer will support our NBFC business in Kolkata by providing expert legal advice, drafting documents, and managing compliance across real‑estate and financial transactions. You will work closely with branch teams, external counsel, and senior management to mitigate risks and ensure smooth deal execution.

Key responsibilities

• Research, analyse and draft legal opinions on Indian Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act, RERA, Stamp Act, Specific Relief Act, Companies Act, RBI guidelines, SARFAESI and related policies.
• Assist business teams in structuring transactions, identifying legal risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Develop, update and maintain standard agreements, templates and legal guidelines.
• Coordinate with external law firms for documentation, legal opinions and title searches.
• Review collateral‑related documents and title search reports for accuracy.
• Support senior lawyers in handling complex, multi‑state transactions.
• Visit assigned branches and government offices as needed, and liaise with local legal vendors.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Indian real‑estate and financial legislation listed above.
• Proven ability to draft clear legal reports and negotiate effectively.
• Practical problem‑solving mindset with innovative solution orientation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for an NBFC environment.
