Lead Solution Architect / Senior Solution Architect – Java

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced, hands‑on Lead or Senior Solution Architect with deep Java expertise to shape the architecture of a major enterprise commerce platform. The role will focus on designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud‑native solutions, primarily on Microsoft Azure but also open to AWS or GCP experience.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of cloud‑native systems using microservices and event‑driven paradigms.
• Design and implement solutions that leverage Kubernetes (preferably AKS) and service‑mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Drive performance optimisation through end‑to‑end testing to ensure scalability, responsiveness and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align business goals with technical solutions.
• Create and maintain architectural diagrams and documentation using tools like Miro, Gliffy or Draw.io.
• Guide teams through cloud adoption, modernisation and optimisation initiatives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to business needs.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture, preferably within the banking or financial services domain.
• Proven production‑grade experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, container orchestration and service‑mesh concepts.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
