Tax Advisor – Rest of World (ROW)

About the role

The Tax Advisor – Rest of World (ROW) supports BP’s Finance – Tax & Treasury team for India and Middle‑East jurisdictions. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager – ROW, the role partners with business units, functions and the broader tax organisation to deliver multi‑jurisdictional tax advice, ensure compliance and manage interactions with tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide optimized, risk‑aware tax advice to business units, ensuring tax attributes and impacts are clearly understood.
• Monitor developments in tax legislation and policy, advising on their effect on the business.
• Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance performed by internal teams, external providers and joint‑venture partners, including tax filings, corporate income tax, and transfer‑pricing documentation.
• Coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries and support tax audits, maintaining appropriate governance and documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax Operations and technology teams to guarantee data quality for tax reporting and to identify automation opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with Big 4 firms and external tax counsel, securing assurance on BP’s tax positions.
• Support statutory audits, group reporting and internal compliance processes such as LTP, GFO and deferred tax.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, indirect tax and transfer‑pricing principles for India and Middle‑East jurisdictions.
• Experience working with internal finance teams, external advisors and tax authorities.
• Ability to interpret tax legislation, assess business impact and communicate recommendations.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on governance, risk management and process improvement.
