Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial Law

About the role

Clariant is seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel to provide result‑driven, detail‑oriented support across its business units. The role requires strong business orientation, ethical conduct, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and finalize commercial agreements such as supply, distribution, tolling, and confidentiality agreements.
• Support M&A transactions, joint ventures and other cross‑border deals, especially within the EMEA region.
• Ensure consistent and compliant agreement management in line with legal and organisational policies.
• Advise business units and functions on legal matters and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate contract execution with internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Collaborate with external counsel to manage litigation, ensuring timely filings and responses.
• Track regulatory updates and assess their impact on business operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law from a recognised university.
• All India Bar Examination (AIBE) and enrollment with the Bar Council of India preferred.
• Minimum 10 + years post‑qualification experience, ideally a mix of leading law‑firm and in‑house corporate exposure.
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate contracts.
• Hands‑on experience in litigation support and case management.
• International experience managing cross‑border transactions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train stakeholders.
• Very good English language skills and willingness to travel.
• Integrity, motivation to work together and ability to operate independently.
