Software Engineer III

About the role

As a Software Engineer III at relx, you will be an individual contributor responsible for delivering production‑quality software for defined components or features. You will work closely with senior engineers to turn ambiguous requirements into secure, reliable, and maintainable systems that support both customer and business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Produce clear technical documentation and follow RX architectural principles.
• Build performant, resilient, extensible, and secure software adhering to Secure SDLC practices.
• Apply testing strategies, write unit/integration tests, and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, improve code quality, and contribute to development workflow enhancements.
• Support operational health by using logs, monitoring, and metrics to diagnose issues.
• Assist in incident response, maintain runbooks, and ensure dependencies and security updates are applied.
• Contribute to reducing technical debt and improving maintainability of owned components.

Required profile

• Typically 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to learn quickly and contribute to production systems.
• Experience working in Agile, cross‑functional product teams.
• Comfort translating ambiguous requirements into scalable solutions.

Required skills

• .NET/C# (essential), with familiarity in Java or Node.js.
• SQL and data handling skills.
• Understanding of system design, SOLID principles, design patterns, and API design.
• Experience with unit/integration testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and DevOps practices, including observability and operational readiness.
• Security‑mindset aligned with Secure SDLC practices.
