Senior Unix System Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Unix System Administrator to join our IT team. You will be responsible for managing and supporting Oracle Linux environments across both on‑premise and cloud platforms, ensuring high availability and performance for critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support UNIX/Linux systems, primarily Oracle Linux (OEL), in on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Assist in the installation, configuration, and management of UNIX servers.
• Provision, configure, and maintain compute, storage, and networking resources in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Manage and support virtualization platforms using Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM).
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, patching, and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot end‑user issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Create and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure systems comply with security standards, hardening guidelines, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with application teams, database administrators, storage, and network teams.
• Participate in assigned IT projects.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience administering UNIX/Linux systems in enterprise environments.
• Two‑ or four‑year degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficiency with shell scripting (Bash or similar) for routine administration tasks.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and within a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Oracle Linux (OEL) and Red Hat Linux.
• Bash scripting.
• Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM).
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) – nice to have.
• Container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes – nice to have.
