Senior Healthcare Support Worker – Day Case Unit

About the role

The NHS Scotland Surgical Suite Day Case Unit is seeking a motivated Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Band 3) to deliver high‑quality care across a range of day‑case specialties in a rural general hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide efficient, patient‑focused support in day‑case surgeries, including general surgery, cataract, gynaecology, endoscopy and related procedures.
• Assist nursing staff with clinical tasks, ensuring safe patient preparation, recovery and discharge.
• Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to infection‑control and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Evidence of SCQF level 6 (or equivalent) training or experience.
• Experience in a ward‑care setting is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
• Genuine interest in day‑case nursing and patient care.

Required skills

• Basic clinical competencies required for day‑case support.
• Understanding of NHS policies, health‑and‑safety and infection‑control procedures.
