Safety Officer – Manufacturing EHS

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives at a manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company standards. You will drive risk reduction, accident prevention, and a strong safety culture across all operations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor, and improve EHS Management Systems aligned to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
• Identify hazards, conduct HIRA/JSA risk assessments, and lead safety inspections, audits and Gemba walks.
• Investigate accidents and near‑misses, develop corrective actions and root‑cause analyses.
• Monitor environmental performance (emissions, effluents, noise, waste) and coordinate statutory reporting.
• Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans, conduct drills, and ensure readiness of firefighting and first‑aid equipment.
• Maintain statutory registers, licenses, permits and prepare monthly/annual EHS performance reports.
• Liaise with government authorities, auditors and external agencies to keep the site inspection‑ready.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of EHS legal and statutory requirements, especially Factories Act 1948 and Karnataka Factory Rules.
• Proven experience in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation.
• Excellent communication skills to engage employees, contractors and leadership.
• Detail‑oriented with strong documentation and reporting abilities.
