Research Integrity Adviser

About the role

Research integrity and publication ethics are central to Springer Nature’s mission to publish reliable, high‑quality research. As a Research Integrity Adviser you will join the Resolutions team within the Research Integrity Group, investigating and resolving integrity concerns across journals, books and databases.

Key responsibilities

• Rapidly triage and evaluate research integrity cases, assessing legal and reputational risk for stakeholders.
• Investigate complex concerns such as plagiarism, authorship disputes, data manipulation and paper‑mill activity using internal and external tools.
• Collaborate with in‑house editors and external Editors‑in‑Chief to determine the impact on the published record and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide best‑practice advice, action plans and clear communication to editors and stakeholders.
• Manage multiple investigations concurrently, maintain detailed case files and contribute to reporting and policy development.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level education in STEM, HSS, publishing, research ethics or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Demonstrable knowledge of academic publishing workflows, editorial decision‑making and the tools used for ethics investigations.
• Strong understanding of COPE guidelines, corrections, retractions, authorship issues, peer‑review manipulation and related misconduct.
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills with the ability to assess evidence, identify risks and formulate evidence‑based recommendations.
