About the role
The Principal Data Engineer will work closely with clients to provide high‑level technical consulting on the elluminate platform, configure clinical trial systems, and lead data‑engineer teams on complex projects. This role combines solution design, ETL development, custom analytics, and oversight of system validation and SOP creation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead consulting efforts for clinical systems software, including design and development of reporting programs.
- Provide programming support, quality control, and custom visualizations for system configurations and data extracts.
- Mentor and manage technical resources to deliver client services and ensure compliance with eClinical and industry standards.
- Collaborate with sales teams on staffing and project delivery, and define new processes for elluminate modules.
Required profile
- 10+ years of professional experience, preferably in senior consulting or services roles, with at least 8 years in database design and development.
- Strong technical leadership, ability to resolve challenges, and experience working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders in the life‑sciences or CRO environment.
Required skills
- SQL, T‑SQL, PL/SQL, Python, R, SAS
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Project)
- Database platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2
- Data reporting tools: QlikSense, QlikView, Spotfire, Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategy
- ETL and data integration: IBM DataStage, Informatica, Spark
- Programming languages and frameworks.NET, C#, Java, HTML, REST APIs
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure
- Big data concepts, data pipelines, data modelling, data warehouse, data lake, BI
- Familiarity with EDC systems such as Rave, Trial Master, InForm, Oracle Clinical
