Network Operations Engineer (L1 NOC)

About the role

The role is for an L1 NOC Engineer who will provide continuous network monitoring, incident handling and first‑level troubleshooting. You will work in a 24/7 Network Operations Center supporting security services and core network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 operational support for security platforms and network devices.
• Monitor alerts, analyze security events and respond to network incidents within SLA.
• Diagnose link‑down, latency, packet loss and device reachability issues.
• Log and track incidents in the ticketing system and follow the escalation matrix.
• Coordinate with ISPs and internal teams for rapid service restoration.
• Perform basic connectivity checks, interface verification and physical inspections with local support.
• Maintain incident documentation, daily operation reports and SOP compliance.
• Communicate status updates to stakeholders during incidents.

Required profile

• BE/BTech degree.
• 2–4 years of total experience, with at least 2 years in a relevant network operations role.
• Preferred certifications: CCNA (mandatory), Network+, ITIL Foundation (optional).
• Ability to work in a 24x7 shift environment.

Required skills

• Configuration and monitoring of FortiGate firewalls, including policies, NAT, VPN and log analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with routing protocols BGP, ISIS and OSPF.
• Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches.
• Use of NMS tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios or Zabbix.
• Diagnostic commands: ping, traceroute, interface checks, port/VLAN verification.
• Ticketing systems experience (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira).
