Messaging Abuse Analyst

About the role

The Messaging Abuse Analyst joins Google’s Trust & Safety team to protect users from fraud, spam, and other abusive behaviors within the messaging ecosystem. You will work globally with engineers, product managers, and cross‑functional partners to identify abuse vectors, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure the integrity of Google’s messaging products.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, investigate, and remediate messaging‑related abuse and fraud at Google scale.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to anticipate abuse vectors before new launches.
• Define, evaluate, and maintain abuse‑protection mechanisms for SMS, MMS, RCS, and SIM/phone‑number services.
• Generate data‑driven insights, summary statistics, and trend analyses to inform policy and product decisions.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to cross‑functional stakeholders and influence mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of data analysis experience, including quantitative and qualitative insight generation.
• Minimum 5 years of project‑management experience defining scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Preferred 8 years in signal development, cyber‑security, or anti‑abuse domains.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels.
