MDI (Welding & Coating) Offshore – Chennai

About the role

This full-time position is based on-site in Chennai and supports offshore projects for the United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on welding and coating activities, ensuring that all welds and protective finishes meet project specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise Arc, MIG and TIG welding operations according to project drawings and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Prepare, execute and inspect welds, documenting quality and compliance.
• Review material specifications and coordinate welding procedures with project engineers.
• Control coating applications and verify the integrity of welded joints.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools and consumables in good condition.
• Record work progress and produce required documentation.
• Follow HSE guidelines and promote safe working practices on the site.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines and technical requirements.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in industrial and offshore welding techniques, including Arc, MIG and TIG.
• Hands-on experience with diverse material types and thicknesses.
• Solid understanding of materials used in welding and coating, and their behaviour in offshore environments.
• Knowledge of relevant welding codes, standards and inspection practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and WPS documents.
• Commitment to safety and experience following HSE protocols.
• Relevant technical qualification or certification in welding or mechanical engineering; offshore or coating certifications are a plus.
• Willingness to work on-site in Chennai and adapt to project-based schedules.
