Manager - Data Scientist

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions, is seeking a Manager – Data Scientist to lead data‑driven initiatives in Bangalore, India. The role involves guiding teams that develop methods and systems to analyze large, diverse data sets supporting semiconductor and display manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise project teams of subject‑matter experts that design and develop methods, processes and systems to consolidate and analyze structured and unstructured big‑data sources.
• Build capability to perform advanced statistical and data‑mining analysis using tools such as R, SAS and MATLAB, and design data acquisition, data structures and databases.
• Interface with internal customers to gather requirements, derive insights, define actions and associated KPIs.
• Lead teams that create analytical models, algorithms and automated processes, applying SQL and programming in PHP or Python to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets.
• Communicate findings to product, service and business management and plan project priorities, resource allocation and team development.

Required profile

• Demonstrated depth of expertise in data science and statistical analysis.
• Ability to interpret complex business challenges and recommend best practices.
• Leadership experience managing functional teams, driving performance and employee development.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, using sophisticated analytical thinking to devise innovative solutions.
• Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
