Legal Executive – Power Sector (Generation/Transmission/Distribution)

About the role

The role involves assisting in the execution of legal, regulatory, policy, tariff and commercial assignments for power sector utilities (generation, transmission and distribution). The candidate will prepare petitions, orders, pleadings and provide advisory support on regulatory developments and amendments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and draft petitions, orders, replies, rejoinders and pleadings related to capital investment, ARR, tariff, power procurement and PPA matters.
• Advise on amendments to regulations, acts, policies and plans; conduct periodic reviews of SERC, CERC, CEA and MOP developments.
• Conduct extensive case‑law research and incorporate findings into assignments.
• Support litigation before commissions, APTEL and the Supreme Court.
• Develop techno‑commercial competencies, including basic financial and tariff modelling of power utilities.
• Collaborate with directors and senior team members on multi‑tasking consulting engagements.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling regulatory matters within the electricity sector across generation, transmission, distribution or trading.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and client‑focused relationship building.
• Legal acumen with a solid understanding of quasi‑judicial regulatory processes.

Required skills

• Legal database research proficiency.
• English drafting and articulation.
• MS Office – Word, PowerPoint (Excel optional but preferred).
