Lead Quality Worker – Blade Manufacturing

About the role

Vestas is seeking an experienced Lead Quality Worker to oversee blade manufacturing quality at its Chennai facility. The role combines hands‑on process control, data traceability and continuous improvement to ensure that wind turbine blades meet the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply Process Work Instructions (PWI) and any updates during shift meetings.
• Report SQDC board metrics at the start of each shift and maintain up‑to‑date NCR status after root‑cause analysis.
• Supervise the full blade production sequence: mould taping, release agent application, glass lay‑up, infusion, curing, debagging, demoulding, weighing, trimming and assembly.
• Ensure correct data entry for traceability and certify component usage at every stage.
• Support PPAP activities during trials and monitor Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters.
• Apply 7 QC tools, conduct 8D problem‑solving, and lead root‑cause analysis to reduce defects.
• Maintain quality documentation in QDA, raise and close NCRs, and attach required evidence.
• Participate in internal, group and customer quality system audits, including VDA audits.
• Develop and implement quality standards, control systems and corrective actions.

Required profile

• ITI or Diploma in a relevant engineering field.
• 10–15 years of experience in wind turbine blade manufacturing or similar high‑tech production environment.
• Proven ability to lead a team in defect reduction and quality improvement.
• Strong understanding of safety, health and environmental policies.
