Java Technical Lead

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions that underpin semiconductor chips and advanced displays. The company creates and services equipment essential for AI advancement and next‑generation semiconductor commercialization. As a Java Technical Lead you will participate in creating new products and enhancing existing ones from concept to launch, working within cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute design, analysis, and evaluation of projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards.
• Design and code complex software features with thorough documentation.
• Develop automation for new and existing features.
• Provide customer support, troubleshoot and fix difficult software problems.
• Communicate proactively on development status and timeline changes.
• Interface with global teams for requirements analysis and scheduling.
• Collaborate with external customers regarding software issues.
• Travel to onsite locations for short‑term assignments such as feature integrations and version installations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7‑10 years of overall experience, including at least 6 years in software development and 3 years in core product development.
• Strong object‑oriented design and programming expertise.
• Professional experience with Core Java technologies (design patterns, multi‑threading, data structures, algorithms).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
