Director - Data

About the role

The Director - Data will shape the data and AI strategy for Chalhoub Group, driving enterprise‑wide governance, master data management and AI‑enabled product delivery across retail and e‑commerce brands.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy, roadmap and delivery for Data & AI across enterprise data governance and data product management.
• Define and implement the Group’s AI strategy, responsible AI practices and model governance using platforms such as Vertex AI and Azure OpenAI.
• Oversee Master Data Management, creating single sources of truth for product, SKU, customer, vendor and inventory data across SFCC, Infor WMS and ERP systems.
• Establish group‑wide data governance policies, compliance standards and data stewardship frameworks.
• Partner with technology and business teams to translate data and AI priorities into governed products and shared reporting standards.
• Define data quality rules, monitoring and anomaly‑detection, ensuring compliance with regional data residency laws and global privacy regulations.
• Own the accuracy, performance and uptime of analytical platforms such as Google BigQuery and Looker.
• Build and run the Data & AI Centre of Excellence, coordinating on‑shore analysts in Dubai and offshore engineering squads in Bangalore.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience leading enterprise data governance, master data management and data product delivery in large multi‑brand retail or e‑commerce environments.
• Proven track record of complex data migrations and system integrations from platforms like Salesforce B2C, Oracle, SAP EBS and legacy WMS to modern cloud warehouses.
• Demonstrated matrix leadership of distributed, multi‑location teams and ability to influence senior business stakeholders.
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, MIS) with preferred MBA or certifications such as CDMP, TOGAF, PMP.
