Design Engineer – VAVE (Value Engineering)

About the role

HARTING is seeking a Design Engineer specialized in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) to join its R&D Product Development team in Thirumizhasai, Chennai. You will work on electro‑mechanical products, driving cost‑effective design solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver at least three major VAVE savings projects.
• Develop new electro‑mechanical products using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Design and optimise die‑cast, plastic and sheet‑metal components, as well as seals and rubber parts.
• Perform GD&T, tolerance stack‑up and structural analyses.
• Manage Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) for design modifications.
• Collaborate with global teams to promote knowledge sharing and drive VAVE initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in value engineering, component engineering, and new product development of electro‑mechanical products.
• Proven ability to work with international, cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business trips.
