About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Communications Expert to raise the visibility of its India Cooling Program. The role focuses on promoting sustainable cooling solutions across multiple stakeholder groups in India and sharing lessons internationally.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement a communication strategy and campaign for the India Cooling Program.
- Coordinate technical inputs, develop communication materials and visual media, and produce speeches and social‑media content.
- Plan and execute awareness‑raising events and liaise with the UNEP Asia‑Pacific Office.
- Support national and state governments in communicating sustainable cooling initiatives.
Required profile
- University degree in communications, international relations or a related field; environmental science background is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years progressive communications experience, including work in India.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi; knowledge of Marathi or Tamil is advantageous.
- Experience with the United Nations system and sustainable‑building topics is desirable.

- Speechwriting and presentation development (PowerPoint).
- Graphic design and video production.
- Design of communication strategies for diverse stakeholder groups.
