Buyer – Purchasing & Inventory Management

About the role

As a Buyer you will manage purchase orders, expedite shipments and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring the right products are available while controlling working capital.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily purchasing reports and system recommendations to determine appropriate quantities and items.
• Create and send purchasing documents to suppliers, maintaining accurate order details.
• Maintain inventory availability while minimizing working capital investment.
• Execute stock replenishment, special orders and drop‑ship buying, selecting the most economical method.
• Ensure compliance with purchase order quantities, costs, notes and terms.
• Manage electronic data interchange (EDI), automated stock replenishment (ASR/VMI), and other order transmission methods.
• Follow up with suppliers on order status and communicate delivery information internally.
• Address supplier shipping errors and take corrective actions.
• Review excess and inactive inventory reports and negotiate return authorizations.
• Assist managers in evaluating supplier performance on delivery, fill rates, errors and cost improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
• At least 1 year of purchasing experience within a supply‑chain environment.
• Knowledge of purchasing and inventory concepts, practices and procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and understand industry dynamics.

Required skills

• Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
• Experience with purchasing and inventory management systems.
