Assistant Manager – Ocean Operations

About the role

Flexport is seeking an Assistant Manager for Ocean Operations in Chennai to lead end‑to‑end shipment movement within the ISC region. The role focuses on delivering a first‑class customer experience by ensuring on‑time performance and high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day logistics with ocean carriers, cartage partners, customs, and warehouses.
• Execute end‑to‑end freight movement across the regional network.
• Achieve the highest Flexport quality standards, ensuring shipments arrive on time and exceptions are handled promptly.
• Meet internal KPIs and SLAs that demonstrate quality delivery.
• Resolve client issues quickly, maintain smooth operations at origin and destination, and escalate when necessary.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 5 years of global forwarding or related experience.
• 4+ years in Ocean Freight, import compliance, or warehousing (preferred).
• Growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Strong critical‑thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
