BIW Product Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a BIW Product Engineer to lead subsystem teams and drive the development of body‑in‑white structures for our vehicle program in Pune. The role involves managing design maturity, cost, weight and regulatory compliance from concept through to engineering sign‑off.

Key responsibilities

• Lead subsystem engineering meetings ensuring cross‑functional representation.
• Progress design maturity from concept to engineering sign‑off and gate reviews.
• Maintain the subsystem work plan aligned with the vehicle program schedule.
• Achieve cost, weight and regulatory compliance targets for the subsystem.
• Define system‑level engineering targets to meet functional, quality and attribute requirements.
• Develop and execute the Design Validation Plan, including in‑house and supplier testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve validation issues and ensure timely test sign‑offs.
• Produce system design specifications incorporating standards, test procedures and material specs.
• Lead DFMEA, quality history reviews and Six Sigma problem‑resolution activities.
• Ensure all documentation complies with ISO and quality standards.
• Coordinate resolution of design or packaging incompatibilities through cross‑functional meetings.
• Support purchasing in sourcing and RFQ activities.
• Assist vehicle launch and pre‑production builds, both virtual and physical, applying APQP methodology.

Required profile

• 4–12 years of experience in automotive engineering, preferably with BIW structures.
• Proven project‑management capability delivering on time, cost, quality and attribute targets.
• Hands‑on experience with front‑end, under‑body and upper‑body BIW components.
• Strong knowledge of component design, function, performance, production and manufacturing requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with suppliers, manufacturing, CAE and validation teams.
