Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – Mechanical Design (Special Purpose Machines)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager to lead mechanical design activities for special‑purpose, process, assembly and testing machines. The role involves translating customer requirements into robust machine concepts and delivering detailed engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Study customer requirements and define system specifications for special‑purpose and assembly automation machines.
• Design mechanical components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, creating detailed drawings and specifications.
• Perform stress analysis, FEA and other engineering calculations to validate design integrity.
• Analyse and optimise designs for cost, manufacturability and performance.
• Maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings and test plans.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve design issues and ensure compliance with ISO, CE, UL and other regulatory standards.
• Drive cost‑saving initiatives and implement design improvements based on project learnings and industry trends.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical design of machines or automation equipment.
• Strong ability to interpret customer needs and translate them into engineering solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Autodesk Inventor (3‑D modelling)
• FEA analysis using Inventor or Ansys
• Statistical tolerance calculations / GD&T
