Assistant Engineer Welding

About the role

The Assistant Engineer – Welding will join our Multi‑modal Manufacturing Facility in Pune, supporting the production of critical aerospace components for commercial jet engines. You will be responsible for high‑quality TIG and orbital welding of tubes, ducts, and sheet‑metal parts, ensuring >95% first‑pass yield.

Key responsibilities

• Perform TIG and orbital welding of stainless steel and Inconel tubes, air manifolds, and sheet‑metal components.
• Repair defective stainless steel and Inconel castings.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, SOPs, and manuals to produce finished products.
• Assemble welded components and ensure compliance with X‑ray Class A quality standards.
• Utilise welding positioners, bevellers, rollers, and 3‑D welding tables.
• Apply problem‑solving tools such as 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
• Train and mentor junior welders.
• Maintain the highest standards of personal integrity and safety.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Welding or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on TIG and orbital welding experience on stainless steel and Inconel tubes/ducts for aircraft engines.
• AWS D17.1 certification for the 6G position with II A & III B materials.
• Proven ability to produce X‑ray quality Class A weld joints (SS 321 & Inconel 625).
• Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
