Area Sales Manager – Medical Devices (Kolkata)

About the role

Leica Microsystems is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead the microsurgery business in Kolkata. You will be responsible for driving sales of advanced microscopy and surgical solutions across government and private institutions, while building strong relationships with key clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve sales targets and grow the portfolio of medical products (Neuro, ENT, Plastic & Reconstruction, Spine, Ophthalmology) within the assigned territory.
• Expand market penetration and profit margins by increasing direct sales and defending market share against competitors.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with decision‑makers, surgeons and other stakeholders, fostering KOL engagement.
• Conduct product demonstrations, including operating‑theatre presentations, and gather competitive data and customer feedback.
• Develop and execute market attack plans, launch promotions, and monitor business results such as product mix, volumes and pricing.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, MBA or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 + years of proven sales performance in medical devices, preferably surgical operating microscopes.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and relationship‑management abilities.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the territory and manage channel partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
• Demonstrated ability to present and demonstrate microscopy equipment.
• Advanced use of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
