Accountant I – Indirect Tax (GST)

About the role

We are looking for an Accountant I specializing in Indirect Tax (GST) to join our Finance & Accounts Division in Goa, India. The role involves ensuring accurate GST compliance, reporting and coordination with multiple internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR‑1, GSTR‑3B, GSTR‑2B, GSTR‑9/9C) on time.
• Monitor GST liabilities, manage Input Tax Credit (ITC) and reconcile books with GST filings.
• Perform periodic reconciliations: Books vs GSTR‑1, Books vs GSTR‑3B, Purchase register vs GSTR‑2B.
• Identify discrepancies, coordinate with vendors and internal teams for resolution.
• Validate GST provisions during month‑end closing and review vendor invoices for compliance.
• Maintain correct HSN codes, GST rates, and place‑of‑supply details.
• Track eligible/ineligible ITC and monitor blocked credits under GST rules.
• Support GST audits, departmental notices, assessments and prepare required documentation.
• Review and configure GST tax codes in SAP/ERP systems.
• Assist in automation and process improvements for GST reporting.
• Stay updated on GST regulatory changes and assess business impact.

Required profile

• CA Inter / CMA Inter / MBA Finance / M.Com.
• 5–6 years of experience in GST compliance and indirect taxation, preferably in a manufacturing or multi‑state environment.
• Strong knowledge of GST laws, procedures and compliance requirements.
• Experience with GST returns, reconciliations, ITC management and GST audits.
• Familiarity with E‑invoice and E‑way bill processes.
• Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems.
• Strong Excel and data reconciliation skills.
• Good communication and documentation abilities.
