Windows Server Operator (Systems & Infrastructure)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced L2 Lab Server Operator to manage, maintain, and optimise our non‑production, R&D and testing laboratory environments. You will be the backbone of the lab infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and security across a diverse technical stack.

Key responsibilities

• Compute & Virtualization Management (VMware & Hyper‑V): deploy, configure and lifecycle‑manage virtual machines, administer host clusters, configure HA, DRS and live migrations, monitor resources and troubleshoot virtualization issues.
• Wintel Administration: install, configure and harden Windows Server (2016+), manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and IIS, implement rigorous patching via WSUS or automation tools.
• Enterprise Storage Operations: provision SAN/NAS storage using iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS/SMB, monitor array health, capacity and performance, manage snapshots and perform backup & recovery for lab baselines.
• Lab Operations & Support: perform rack‑and‑stack hardware provisioning (Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant), cabling, set up isolated VLANs and firewall rules, automate tasks with PowerShell, PowerCLI or Python, and act as Tier‑2 escalation point for infrastructure alerts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Proven experience operating Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms in a lab or R&D setting.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently.
