UI/UX Software Engineer

About the role

The National Robotics Engineering Center is seeking a UI/UX Software Engineer to design and develop intuitive user interfaces for a variety of robotic systems. You will collaborate with robotics engineers, hardware teams, and field operators to turn complex robotic capabilities into user‑friendly experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design human‑machine interfaces in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
• Build native Qt/QML front‑ends that are hardware‑accelerated and bind to C++ or Python back‑ends.
• Prototype interaction flows and conduct usability testing with real users in the field.
• Integrate UI components with real‑time system data, telemetry feeds, and databases.
• Participate in code reviews, integration testing, version control, and documentation.
• Adapt open‑source libraries, proprietary tools, and backend APIs to extend UI functionality.

Required profile

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with engineers and operators.
• Experience delivering UI solutions for complex, safety‑critical systems.
• Comfort with rapid prototyping and iterative testing.
