Tunnel Design Engineer – TBM & NATM

About the role

The company is seeking a Tunnel Design Engineer with 4–5 years of experience to work on tunnel projects across India. The role involves detailed design using both Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) techniques, supporting metro, hydro‑power, road and railway tunnel initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed tunnel designs for TBM and NATM methods, including primary/secondary linings and segmental linings.
• Design transition zones, cross passages, shafts, portals and adits.
• Perform numerical modelling and analysis using RS2, RS3 and PLAXIS 2D/3D.
• Classify rock mass using RMR, Q and GSI systems.
• Review geotechnical and geological investigation data and ground‑water reports.
• Prepare instrumentation, monitoring plans, risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Produce design reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.
• 4–5 years of experience in tunnel design, preferably with mixed TBM + NATM projects.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, engineering geology and tunnel engineering.
• Familiarity with relevant Indian standards (IS, IRC, RDSO/Metro, MoRTH, ITA).
