Treasury Reporting Manager & Controller

About the role

The Global Treasury Controllership team is seeking a Treasury Reporting Manager & Controller to lead SEC and FED reporting for American Express. This senior position will work closely with Global Treasury, Reporting, GAPA, Technology and Legal Entity Controllers to ensure accurate and timely regulatory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver financial statements for SEC filings (10‑K/Q) and FED reports (Y9C, Y9LP, Y15, 2052a, 009, etc.) for treasury products across AXP subsidiaries.
• Perform detailed variance analysis, explain business drivers, portfolio movements and market impacts.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve reporting issues and monitor impacts of new transactions, accounting developments and regulatory changes.
• Support strategic initiatives, system implementations and enterprise transformation projects affecting treasury reporting.
• Design, build and review controls to ensure compliance with SOX, SEC, BHC regulations and internal guidelines.
• Identify and implement opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate reporting processes.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of professionals, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• CA/CPA or equivalent qualification with 6‑8 years of finance and reporting experience.
• Prior experience in SEC/BHC reporting; knowledge of capital markets is a plus.
• Strong project‑management skills and ability to define a medium‑to‑long‑term vision.
• Self‑starter with a proactive approach and a passion for delivering high‑quality service.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and willingness to challenge the status quo.
