Transformer Design Engineer

About the role

We are a fast‑growing engineering firm in the Power & Industrial Electronics sector, focused on high‑efficiency transformer solutions for renewable energy, EV charging and industrial automation. As a Transformer Design Engineer you will lead the design and validation of both dry‑type and oil‑immersed transformers for industrial and grid‑scale applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate dry‑type and oil‑immersed transformers, ensuring compliance with IEC/IS standards.
• Optimize core and winding layouts using FEA tools such as ANSYS Maxwell and FEMM to improve efficiency, reduce losses and manage thermal performance.
• Specify and validate materials (CRGO steel, copper/aluminum windings, insulation systems) in collaboration with procurement and production teams.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, bills of materials and test procedures for prototypes and mass‑production units.
• Support field failure analysis and implement design improvements to increase MTBF and lower warranty claims.
• Lead design reviews with cross‑functional teams and clients to align specifications with performance, cost and timeline goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing dry‑type and oil‑immersed transformers for industrial or grid applications.
• Strong knowledge of IEC and Indian Standards for transformer design.
• Hands‑on expertise with FEA tools (ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM) for magnetic and thermal analysis.
• Familiarity with core and winding materials such as CRGO steel, copper and aluminum.
