Trainee Technician – Haemodialysis

About the role

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a motivated Trainee Technician to support haemodialysis treatments for patients with kidney failure. You will work under supervision to set up and operate dialysis equipment, ensuring safe and effective therapy.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate the haemodialysis machine for each patient session.
• Attach dialyzer and tubing, prime extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline.
• Label dialyser and blood lines with patient name and ID before first use.
• Prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate according to prescribed formulas.
• Explain the dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients to reduce anxiety.
• Connect the machine to the patient’s vascular access and initiate treatment.
• Monitor the machine for any malfunction during the session.
• Maintain all log books, forms, and registers accurately.

Required profile

• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Attention to detail for labeling, priming, and record‑keeping.
• Good communication skills to explain procedures to patients.

Required skills

• Operation of haemodialysis machines.
• Priming extracorporeal circuits with normal saline.
• Preparation and mixing of dialysis solutions, including bicarbonate.
• Labeling of dialyser and blood lines with patient identifiers.
