Trainee Electrical Engineer – Power System Planning

About the role

As a Trainee Electrical Engineer you will join the Power Systems Energy & Utility Consulting team, supporting transmission and distribution planning for global energy clients. You will develop and run power system studies, model electrical networks, and help automate analysis workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Perform power flow, transient stability, short‑circuit, reliability, and contingency analyses using CYME, Synergi, Windmil and ETAP.
• Execute steady‑state, protection coordination, and reactive compensation studies to improve network performance.
• Develop Python scripts and other automation tools to streamline repetitive analysis and reporting tasks.
• Prepare clear technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure all work complies with IEEE/NERC, IEC and other relevant international standards.
• Collaborate with international teams, manage multiple project timelines, and support project managers in delivering on schedule.

Required profile

• Master’s (or Bachelor’s) degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
• 0–1 years of relevant professional experience or internship experience.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Required skills

• Power system analysis tools: CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP.
• Programming/scripting: Python.
• Proficiency with Excel for data handling and reporting.
