Tolerancing Engineer – Aircraft Structures

About the role

The Structures team at Airbus India is seeking an Overall Aircraft Tolerancing Engineer to join its Tolerancing group in Bangalore. The role focuses on performing tolerance studies, formalising reports and drawing sets, and ensuring functional requirements cascade correctly through the aircraft development process.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct 1D, 2D and 3D tolerance analyses and produce formal tolerance reports and drawing sets.
• Apply geometrical dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) annotations in accordance with ISO 1101 and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Define contractual interchangeability requirements and guarantee compliance with tolerancing and DVA rules across the aircraft development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and assembly teams to recommend design changes that mitigate tolerance accumulation.
• Execute statistical tolerance calculations and use CATIA V5 for creating 2‑D drawings with geometric annotations.

Required profile

• Graduate or post‑graduate degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in aircraft structure tolerancing, with exposure to automotive/aerospace component manufacturing and retrofit solutions.
• Strong understanding of aircraft functions, operations, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work independently and within a trans‑national team, communicating effectively in oral and written form.

Required skills

• 1D/2D/3D tolerance analysis.
• GD&T expertise per ISO 1101 and ASME Y14.5.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5.
• Experience using 3DCS and MECAmaster.
• Knowledge of KC&T suite.
• Statistical tolerance calculation methods.
• Aircraft structure and manufacturing process knowledge.
