Technician – Mechanical Maintenance – Container Freight Station

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Technician to carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment at our Container Freight Station in Redhills. The role involves ensuring the reliability of machinery, supporting production, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Inspect equipment regularly to detect wear, damage or potential failures.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults promptly.
• Install, assemble and commission mechanical equipment as required.
• Replace defective components such as bearings, seals, belts, couplings, valves, pumps and gearboxes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
• Coordinate with production and other departments to minimise equipment downtime.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Basic scan‑tool knowledge.
