Technical Support Engineer – Planned Maintenance System

About the role

Join Wilhelmsen Ship Management’s Global PMS Support Team in Chennai as a Technical Support Engineer. You will provide first‑line support for the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), maintain technical data, and drive database improvement projects for vessels worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to vessel and stakeholder queries on PMS, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
• Maintain and update PMS databases, including equipment hierarchies, maintenance tasks, spare‑parts records and technical documentation.
• Validate and standardise spare‑parts and component data extracted from manufacturers’ manuals and drawings.
• Execute bulk data updates, cleaning and verification to ensure high data quality.
• Prepare reports and analyse PMS data using Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in PMS support, maintenance planning or related technical functions.
• Good understanding of vessel equipment, maintenance practices and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, data analysis and reporting).
• Basic knowledge of SQL for data queries.
• Experience with data validation, quality‑assurance and bulk data processing.
• Ability to extract and standardise spare‑parts information from technical manuals.
