Team Member - ESG

About the role

The ESG Team Member supports the bank’s environmental and social risk framework by conducting due diligence, monitoring compliance, and guiding borrowers on sustainable practices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental and social (E&S) risk assessments for new and existing credit proposals, reviewing sector‑specific risks, regulatory compliance, permits, and borrower practices in line with ABCL policy.
• Identify key environmental, social, health and safety risks, and recommend mitigation measures, covenants, and risk controls to inform credit decisions.
• Prepare Environmental & Social Action Plans (ESAPs) based on identified gaps, coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure timely implementation and closure of action items.
• Monitor ongoing borrower compliance with agreed E&S conditions through periodic reviews, site visits, document checks, and escalation of any deviations.
• Engage with stakeholders by guiding customers on ABCL’s E&S requirements, supporting issue resolution, corrective actions, and raising awareness of sustainable practices.
• Prepare summary notes for risk and credit committees, maintain accurate due‑diligence records, monitoring reports, and management information systems for review.
• Track regulatory and global E&S developments, contributing to the enhancement of internal frameworks, processes, and training initiatives for staff and customers.
