Tax Intermediate Analyst

About the role

The Tax Intermediate Analyst supports Citi’s tax function by managing tax liabilities, ensuring compliance, and providing analytical insight across multiple jurisdictions. This role operates with a degree of independence, handling complex tax issues and collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall tax liabilities for Citi, including compliance, financial reporting, planning, and controversy processes.
• Assist in the preparation, filing, and reporting of income tax at all jurisdictional levels.
• Coordinate payments to tax authorities in line with applicable regulations.
• Identify and resolve tax‑related problems using autonomous judgment.
• Implement workflow or process redesigns and act as owner for regular reporting and process administration.
• Direct day‑to‑day activities of junior team members and serve as a subject‑matter expert for senior stakeholders.
• Assess risk and ensure adherence to Citi’s policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.

• Strong analytical thinking with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and diplomatically.
• Independent judgment and autonomy with limited supervision.
• Understanding of U.S. tax information reporting rules for both U.S. and non‑U.S. persons.
• Commitment to compliance, risk management, and safeguarding the firm’s reputation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IRS Form W‑9 requirements.
• Knowledge of IRS Form W‑8 requirements.
• Familiarity with IRS Forms 1098, 1099 series, and 1042‑S.
• Understanding of IRS Form 945 requirements.
