Tax Accountant

About the role

OpenGov India is seeking a Tax Accountant to manage end‑to‑end direct and indirect tax compliance for its Indian operations. The role involves handling monthly TDS and GST filings, quarterly and annual returns, and maintaining the fixed‑asset register within a dual‑book NetSuite environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deposit monthly TDS, ensuring correct withholding under sections 194 and 195.
• File quarterly eTDS returns (26Q, 27Q), reconcile to books, issue Forms 16A and resolve TRACES defaults.
• File GSTR‑1 and GSTR‑3B on time and perform monthly GSTR‑2B to books ITC reconciliation, ageing unmatched credit and coordinating vendor follow‑up.
• Apply Rule 42/43 reversals, Section 17(5) blocked credits, reverse charge on imported services, support LUT filing, zero‑rated export treatment and RFD‑01 refund claims.
• Prepare quarterly advance tax computations, supporting schedules for corporate returns and tax audits, including MSME testing and book‑profit to taxable‑income reconciliation.
• Compile cross‑border payment documentation (TRC, Form 10F, Forms 15CA/15CB) and assist with treaty, transfer‑pricing and Form 3CEB inputs.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register in NetSuite FAM under dual‑book configuration, run monthly depreciation for Indian GAAP and US GAAP books and explain divergences.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification or a bachelor’s/master’s degree in accounting or finance with equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years post‑qualification experience covering both direct and indirect taxation.
• Strong knowledge of TDS provisions (sections 194, 195) and GST compliance (GSTR‑1, GSTR‑3B, GSTR‑2B).
• Experience preparing schedules for tax and statutory audits and quarterly advance tax.
• Hands‑on ERP experience and advanced Excel skills for high‑volume data reconciliation.
• Comfort with AI‑enabled tools to improve workflow efficiency.
