Systems Engineer

About the role

The National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the transformation of cutting‑edge robotic concepts into field‑ready solutions. You will work with world‑class robotics professionals in a fast‑paced, innovative environment, guiding projects from initial concept through deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Define high‑level and detailed system requirements, set priorities, and drive projects to successful delivery through cross‑functional collaboration.
• Lead effort analysis, issue resolution, change and risk management, and quality assurance using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
• Create and maintain model‑based system engineering artifacts and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct design and trade studies, support system testing, and demonstrate functional prototypes.
• Assist project managers with scheduling, staffing, and budgeting for large‑scale initiatives.

Required profile

• Cross‑disciplinary experience with deep technical strength in a core engineering area.
• Strong curiosity and initiative to navigate complex technical challenges.
• Experience in domains such as machine‑operator assistance, agricultural automation, autonomous systems, or safety frameworks for commercial and defense clients.
• Ability to thrive in a rapid‑development, collaborative environment.
