System Engineer – Infrastructure & Cloud

About the role

We are a growing ship‑owning company seeking a System Engineer to manage and evolve our vessel and shore IT infrastructure. The role focuses on delivering secure, stable and highly available on‑premise and cloud environments while driving automation and DevOps practices.

Key responsibilities

• Administer on‑premise and cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and ensure performance, availability and security.
• Monitor systems and respond to incidents, performing root‑cause analysis and remediation.
• Configure and troubleshoot network components including firewalls, VPNs, routers and switches.
• Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Manage identity and access (IAM), cybersecurity controls, SSL/TLS certificates and compliance standards.
• Support application deployments, production environments and maintain high‑availability configurations.
• Oversee backup, disaster‑recovery planning and execution.
• Enhance monitoring and observability with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack and Datadog.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and operational procedures.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in systems, networking and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong background in Windows Server administration.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
• Hands‑on experience with Azure and/or AWS platforms.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
• Familiarity with automation and DevOps practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and incident‑management skills.
