System Engineer – EBOP

About the role

The System Engineer – EBOP will support Business Verticals in designing and evaluating robust electrical system solutions. You will ensure technical soundness, manage risk, and deliver detailed engineering deliverables from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Business Verticals in developing and evaluating system solutions, identifying and mitigating technical risks.
• Perform EBoP equipment sizing, detailed design, and plant engineering according to standards.
• Design and engineer transformers, motors, MV/LV switchgear, control schemes, UPS, battery, layout, cable, earthing, lightning protection and lighting systems.
• Convert project specifications into electrical schematics, SLDs, GA drawings, BOMs and technical reports.
• Prepare technical documentation, review vendor offers, and ensure compliance with international electrical codes (ANS, UL, NEC, NFPA, IEC).
• Collaborate with GE business units, supply‑chain partners and subcontractors to drive lean, optimal solutions.

Required profile

• Strong background in electrical system design and plant engineering.
• Familiarity with international electrical standards and codes.
• Ability to identify technical risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Experience working in cross‑functional, multi‑disciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Electrical equipment sizing (transformers, motors, switchgear, UPS, batteries).
• Control scheme preparation and layout engineering.
• Cable, earthing, lightning protection and lighting design.
• Creation of Single Line Diagrams (SLD), schematics, General Arrangement (GA) drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Use of PLM tools (preferred).
• Specification, selection and analysis of electrical components.
• Knowledge of ANS, UL, NEC, NFPA and IEC standards.
• Technical documentation preparation and vendor offer review.
