System Administrator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced System Administrator to manage and optimise our physical and virtual IT infrastructure for OMSGuru, a SaaS provider for eCommerce vendors. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance and security across Windows, Linux and macOS environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and monitor physical and virtual servers, desktops and laptops.
• Manage network devices including firewalls, switches, routers and GSM gateways.
• Configure and troubleshoot firewall rules, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPNs and routing policies.
• Implement backup and restore solutions for VMs, databases and applications.
• Administer virtualised environments (VMware ESXi 8, Proxmox, Hyper‑V).
• Administer NAS/SAN storage, RAID configurations and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Deploy and monitor web applications on IIS, Apache and Nginx.
• Install and manage databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Handle patch management and system updates for servers and network devices.
• Manage VoIP/SIP solutions with Asterisk servers.
• Monitor infrastructure using ELK Stack, Zabbix, New Relic and Grafana with alerting.
• Support Office 365 and Google Workspace users and policies.
• Maintain GitLab server, version control and source‑code access.
• Manage endpoint security via ESET Security Server.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops and servers.
• Configure and secure remote access (RDP, SSH, Telnet, SNMP).
• Deploy and maintain open‑source applications on Linux servers.
• Implement automation and integrations using Bash, PowerShell, Zapier and n8n.
• Maintain inventory, licensing and documentation for IT assets.
• Communicate with vendors and service providers for technical support.
• Ensure secure handling of passwords, API keys and secrets using 2FA and encryption.

Required profile

• 2–5 years experience administering Windows, Linux and macOS systems.
• 2–3 years experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, Proxmox).
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPN, routing, firewall, DNS, DHCP).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud services, particularly AWS (EC2, S3, Route 53).
• Experience with storage solutions (SAN, NAS, RAID) and backup/recovery processes.
• Proficiency in database administration (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and web servers (IIS, Apache, Nginx).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (ELK Stack, Zabbix, New Relic, Grafana) and alerting mechanisms.
• Ability to script and automate tasks using Bash, PowerShell and integration platforms.
• Good communication skills for vendor interaction and documentation.
