Structural Designer – Hydropower & Pumped Storage Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Structural Designer to lead the design and detailing of hydropower and pumped‑storage projects. The role involves preparing, reviewing and coordinating structural drawings and 3‑D models for complex hydroelectric infrastructure, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed structural and construction drawings for dams, intake structures, spillways, powerhouses, transformer caverns, surge shafts, pressure shafts, penstocks, tailrace tunnels and utility galleries.
• Prepare reinforcement and steel detailing, general arrangement drawings and coordinate with civil, geotechnical, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and geological teams.
• Align structural drawings with engineering calculations, design reports and applicable standards, and review vendor drawings for equipment interfaces.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design, constructability and value‑engineering reviews, and ensure compliance with quality and document‑control procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to junior designers, support site engineering teams with drawing queries and revisions, and coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• More than 10 years of experience in structural design and detailing of large‑scale underground and surface hydroelectric facilities.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality engineering deliverables on schedule.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS or MIDAS Civil.
• Experience in reinforcement detailing and structural steel detailing.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows, 3‑D modeling and clash detection.
