Steel Structural Engineer

About the role

A Structural Engineer specializing in steel structures is sought in Mumbai. The role is normally that of a Steel Structural Engineer on projects of various sizes, and on major or more complex projects it can involve designing structural steel frameworks. The engineer reports to the Lead Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the design and construction stages of a project and deliver work to an agreed fee with the Project Manager.
• Prepare design basis reports, calculation reports, drawings, calculations, specifications and reports for assigned tasks.
• Coordinate with the design team, attend meetings on progress, deadlines and detail design issues, and liaise with architects and service engineers.
• Review and comment on deliverables from Graduate Engineers and Technicians at key stages.
• Support client and project proposals, contribute to task profitability within budget, and ensure quality through careful checking.
• Build project teams from internal and external resources and aim for 95% chargeable time.
• Follow 9E QHSE policies, comply with local regulations, and obtain site inductions before working on site.

Required profile

• Qualified graduate in Civil or Structural Engineering; minimum 3-6 years of experience in engineering consultancy firms.
• Master's degree or Chartered Engineering is an added advantage; experience on Middle East projects is highly preferred.
• Team working, influencing and relationship building competencies.

Required skills

• Familiarity with American, European and Indian steel design standards and codes.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, IDEA Statica and Hilti.
• Knowledge of concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk and claim assessment, and steel connection design.
• Knowledge of erection engineering is an added advantage.
