Steel Engineer – GAIL Gas PMC Project

About the role

Meenaar Global Consultants LLP is seeking an experienced Steel Engineer to join the GAIL Gas Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team in Dehradun and Puri. The role focuses on supervising, quality monitoring, inspection, and compliance of steel pipeline works executed by contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor fabrication, welding, coating, laying, and testing of steel pipelines.
• Ensure contractor execution complies with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Review and monitor welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications.
• Verify NDT reports, radiography/UT results, and hydrostatic test records.
• Monitor coating, wrapping, and corrosion protection activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality of workmanship and materials.
• Review pressure testing, commissioning, and handover documentation.
• Identify non‑conformities and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and support audits and regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Civil or Pipeline Engineering (mandatory).
• 5–8 years of experience in steel pipeline, oil & gas or CGD projects.
• Experience in PMC, supervision or client‑side monitoring preferred.
• Strong knowledge of welding, NDT, hydro‑testing and coating standards.
• Familiarity with PNGRB guidelines and safety norms.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR).
• Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, including radiography and ultrasonic testing (UT).
• Hydrostatic testing of pipelines.
• Coating and corrosion protection standards.
• PNGRB regulatory guidelines.
