State Project Coordinator

About the role

The State Project Coordinator will support the National Project Manager in implementing the GEF‑7 Land Degradation Neutrality project, working closely with national, state and landscape units to deliver sustainable land‑management outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of the GEF‑7 Land Degradation Neutrality project in the assigned state, ensuring alignment with the project document and results framework.
• Manage daily project operations at the state level, including budgeting, information flow, and stakeholder communication.
• Develop state‑specific annual work plans and submit timely reports to the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and UNDP.
• Guide landscape‑level teams, monitor consultants’ work, and assist in mid‑term and final evaluations.
• Facilitate regular coordination with the National Project Management Unit, State Project Steering Committee, Landscape Management Unit, UNDP and MoEFCC.
• Build partnerships with line departments, technical institutions and livelihood programmes to ensure convergence and resource mobilisation.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, motivated and committed to contributing to sustainable development in India.
• Proven experience in project planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in environmental or land restoration programmes.
• Strong coordination skills with ability to work with multiple government agencies, UN agencies and external partners.
