Staff System Engineer – EV Solutions

About the role

Enphase Energy is seeking a Staff System Engineer to lead the definition, architecture, and integration of electric‑vehicle (EV) charging solutions within its energy ecosystem. You will work across hardware and software domains, turning market requirements into robust system designs and proof‑of‑concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Define system requirements based on marketing needs and standards such as ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and OCPP.
• Develop system architecture, concept of operations, and functional separation between hardware and software.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to clarify requirements and design test strategies for integrated EV charger systems.
• Create hardware/software proof‑of‑concepts to validate product concepts and integrations.
• Drive design execution, integration, and verification testing (DVT) for EV chargers, micro‑inverters, batteries, and IoT gateways.
• Develop and execute automated test frameworks using Python to control lab instruments (grid simulators, power analysers, oscilloscopes, programmable loads, etc.).
• Set up, configure, and troubleshoot hardware test environments; manage test data and databases.
• Identify, document, and track defects, analyze test results, and provide actionable recommendations.

Required profile

• Strong background in systems engineering for power electronics or EV charging hardware.
• Experience translating market requirements into detailed system specifications and architectures.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional integration projects from concept through verification.
• Hands‑on experience with hardware test labs and instrumentation.

Required skills

• Python programming for test automation.
• Knowledge of ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and OCPP standards.
• Hardware/software integration and proof‑of‑concept development.
• Test automation and development of DVT plans.
• Operation of lab equipment such as grid simulators, power analysers, oscilloscopes, and programmable loads.
